Comfort Maximized - From New Plants to Air Conditioner Service

December 11, 2015

With cooler temperatures settled in and days that seem like there’s hardly any sunshine, it can be hard to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That spreads far beyond doing annual air conditioner service too, because there are various things you can do to help make your home feel comfy even when your air conditioner is running at its best.

Here are a couple that we find particularly helpful here in Beckley and Mount Hope:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, could mean a lot of air is sneaking out of your home. It goes without saying that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is going outside too. There are a variety of options that can help you shut those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are fairly easy fixes for homeowners to do themselves.
  • Switch your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most critical things you can do to not only improve your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your energy costs. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can take care of it yourself. It’s normally recommended to switch your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its performance, but some can last even longer.
  • Buy plants. Indoor plants can provide a host of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they could possibly improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a variety of contaminants that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already taking care of, but it never hurts to have a reminder. Having air conditioner service done annually helps make sure that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be fixed so your comfort isn’t in trouble.

It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 304-707-0600  to talk about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
