Spring is finally here. We’re pretty sure your to-do list already feels overly long, but we have a handful of things that might save you some problems and keep you comfortable in the months to come. The weather is already heating up in Beckley and Mount Hope and the last thing you want is to uncover is that you need AC repair. Going through this short checklist now could save you from sweating this summer.
- Look at Your Air Filter and Ducts
Swapping your air filter makes it to almost all of our lists of pointers because it's so important and so often left unaddressed. If your air filter is filthy, your system will have to work harder to keep you cozy. This costs you more money and causes more stress on the system which decreases the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are another piece of the puzzle that is often neglected as well. While you're spring cleaning, pull off the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers taken off, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and replace them after they've dried.
- Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units clear of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can inhibit your system and cause it to reduce its efficiency.
- Arrange Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we enter the picture to help you work on that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up lengthens the life of your system and keeps it working at top efficiency. Spring is the best time to set up your tune-up so any issues or AC repair that needs to be made can be taken care of before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a small investment into the lifespan of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.
We can't help you with your entire spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to ensure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long. If you have any questions about spring cleaning, your system or need to arrange your annual AC tune-up, please give us a call at 304-707-0600.
